On December 15, 2020, I experienced a spontaneous tear of the retina in my left eye.

Attendees of the conference will have the opportunity to hear from 4 notable speakers within the community.

I had a second retina detachment surgery in December that changed my life forever.

At the age of 21, after an accident with a knife, I lost all vision in my left eye.

The life-saving measures performed to keep me alive conjointly caused retinal detachments in both my eyes.

I had central retinal artery occlusion on the 9th of December 2021, which took almost 90% percent of my vision in my right eye.

Fast forward 10 years later, when my eye unexpectedly started giving me a lot of trouble.

HOWEVER! The point of sharing my story is I WILL NEVER GIVE UP! As many times a day as I want to, I will never.

Ten days and many tests and procedures later, it was determined that I had suffered a retinal occlusion.

However, when I show pictures of Maverick, I have gotten comments like, “what’s wrong with his eye?"

Thus, I learned to drive, and live with one eye. Both my balance and depth perception is off, which makes it more difficult.

I did have surgery, which allowed me to keep my eye, but I never regained vision.

Growing up with a blind eye was hard.
