Tell me about yourself.
I grew up in San Diego and moved to Arizona when I was 13 years old with my family. My brothers and I all play sports which keeps us busy literally 24/7. I love to travel, cook, and play volleyball. A fun fact is I can play the drums! After graduating high school I would like to go to a culinary school abroad and eventually open my own restaurant.
What's your eye story?
I was involved in a car crash on August 7, 2021. I was driving and had to swerve to avoid a car attempting to make a left turn into me and I hit a light pole. I broke my nose, shattered my orbital bone, broke all the bones on the left side of my face, and split my eye in half.
What has been the most challenging thing mentally?
The hardest thing mentally has been having to rely on others for help the first couple of weeks out of the hospital. I am very independent and love to do things myself.
What has been the most challenging thing physically?
The hardest thing physically has just been finding ways to handle the pain. I get really bad headaches and sharp pains in the corners of my eye.
Where are you now in your recovery?
Currently, I just had surgery number 3 to fix some tissue in my eye and have my conformer put in. They had also stitched my eye shut (which hurts quite bad), but my bones are healing well.
